What do judges do in jury trials?

I'll be the first to admit that 80% of what I know about criminal justice I learned from "Law & Order" But from what I've seen on TV, most of what criminal court judges do is rule on objections. Sometimes they might respond to motions (change of venue, suppress evidence, etc.). What else do they do in jury trials?
