Can you keep brine shrimp without air pumps?

i hatch brine shrimp regularly and if i just need them for a day to feed fry then i do not give them air ... if i need them to last a few day before feeding i give them air ... the ones without air have died within 48 hours ... just my experience ... if you want to grow them you will need air and food at some point for them
