Can I use color safe shampoo for brunettes and reds on highlighted hair?

Yesterday I dyed my hair a very dark burgundy/brown color, and today I'm highlighting it with bright blonde. When I went shopping for the colors, I also picked up some color safe shampoo for colored hair that's brunette or red. Is it safe to use that on my hair even with the blonde chunks in it? Or will it turn the blonde into a weird awful color?
